Announcements, Events and News
Dear IES Members,

I am thrilled to ring in the new year with all of you as we welcome the dawn of new beginnings.

Reflecting on 2024, I am filled with pride and gratitude for what we have accomplished together. The past year was marked with significant milestones for IES and a shared commitment among our members to advancing the engineering profession.

One of the most heartwarming moments of the year was the IES Charity Golf Event, where the engineering community came together to raise $220,000. These funds were donated to the Moral Home for the Aged Sick and the IES Scholarship Fund, testifying to the generosity and compassion of our members towards underprivileged groups in our community.

We were also privileged to recognise outstanding contributions to engineering and society in the past year. Ms. Ho Ching, Chairman of Temasek Trust and Trailblazer Foundation, was honoured with the esteemed Lifetime Engineering Achievement Award at our Annual Dinner for making a profound impact on the industry and community with her lifetime accomplishments. Mr. Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for National Development & Digital Development and Information, was conferred the title of IES Honorary Fellow for his steadfast support in advancing the interests of IES and the engineering landscape.

During the Annual Dinner, IES also unveiled the new Chartered Engineering Board to accelerate professional accreditation of engineers, technologists and technicians across various sectors of engineering. This milestone is aligned with the national SkillsFuture movement to advance the skills development agenda of engineering professionals and sectors.

Our efforts to ignite a passion for engineering among the younger generation through the National Engineers Day have once again yielded results. Through this event, we have successfully sparked the curiosity of many young minds, encouraging them to pursue engineering as a course of study and a career. This is a critical part of laying a strong foundation for a robust core of engineering talents to drive Singapore’s future growth.

Looking ahead to 2025, IES will remain focused on driving key initiatives such as expanding the reach of the IES Chartered Engineer programme to further professionalise and elevate the standing of engineers in Singapore and beyond. We are also committed to strengthening collaborations, enhancing member engagement and championing sustainability and innovation.

IES could not have accomplished so much without the support of our members. Thank you for your unwavering dedication to contribute your time and expertise in different ways. I look forward to working alongside all of you to achieve even greater successes in 2025.
Wishing everyone a fulfilling and prosperous year ahead.
